Next stop: Cebu City!
(via Ferry from Tagbilaran Port –> 2hours for 520 php + 100 php for the luggage)
Unfortunately only for a couple of days, but enough to try few vegan restaurants and to visit one of the most beautiful spots ever!
Yes I’m talking about the Kawasan Falls.
Travelling on a budget means reaching places in the cheapest way. So, instead of booking a tour to go there, we have woken up at 3am and taken a public bus (no aircon) from the South Terminal (direction Bato – Via Barili) for about 3.5 hours to get there.
What an adventure! If you suffer from motion sickness, remember to take a couple of tablets before getting on the bus! Bus fare: 260 PHP for the round trip (pay directly on the Bus )
Once there, the bus leaves you right at the entrance of the falls. You will need to walk for about 20 min to get inside. Entry fee is 45 PHP. There will be many Canyoneering companies asking if you want to join an adventure. We didn’t do it unfortunately cos I was sick that day, but it looked very cool. Price is 1500 php (never pay more than that).
The reason why we have decided to leave that early in the morning was to avoid the crowd at the falls. Usually everyone goes to the canyoneering first and other people coming with tours will probably visit Oslob in the morning to swim with whale sharks (something that we decided not to do, feeling sorry for the poor animals surrounded by boats and hundreds of Asians unable to swim and trying to touch them) getting to Kawasan early in the afternoon. This allowed us to enjoy that little paradise almost by ourselves (only few other people were there at 7.30am).
Where we stayed: CityScape 2 (found through AirBnb): amazing location as it’s at walking distance from the supermarket and most importantly form the most delicious vegan restaurants we have tried.

Live Life Restaurant – Cebu City
Vegan eats:
Live Life (Cebu City) is 100% vegan. Offers many options from entrees, to soups and mock meat mains. Just slightly more expensive than the others. Quality of food is super! Mushroom Wantons are a Must-try!
Lun Haw (literally across the road from Live Life) is 100% vegan. Also does take-away (life saver when I was sick). Their Ice Cream is definitely a must-try.
Healthy U (a bit farer, in Sambag area). Vegetarian with many vegan options. Super cheap and delicious. Many locals go there, mostly students. Staff is very friendly. Their budget meal is huge with a choice of 2 options + rice for only 49 php!!!
